Delete your Machete Cards account
Last updated
You can delete the account you use to sign in to Machete Cards yourself, in the Machete Cards app on iPhone or Android, or ask us to do it by email. This page says how, and what is deleted or kept.
In the app
Open More → Account → Delete account. The screen tells you what will happen before you confirm, then asks you to type DELETE. If it asks for your password or a two-step code, enter them. If you sign in with Apple or Google and signed in a while ago, sign out, sign back in, and delete within 10 minutes. Every device signed in to the account is signed out at once.
By email
Write to sales@machetecards.com from the email address you sign in with, and ask us to delete your account. We confirm the request comes from you before deleting anything, and we write back when it is done.
What is deleted
If other owners remain in your workspace, or you only belong to someone else's, you leave it and your account is deleted straight away; the workspace and its records carry on without you. If you are the only owner of a workspace, deleting your account closes that workspace too: it is kept for 30 days, during which the deletion can be cancelled by writing to us, then everything in it is permanently deleted and your account with it.
What is kept
A few records outlive the account because the law or the shop's books need them:
- When a closed workspace is purged, everything in it is deleted except a yearly summary of its orders — order count, gross sales, fees and shipping — kept for accounting and tax purposes. A shop that needs its full records should export the workspace before closing it.
- A security log of sign-ins and of password, email, two-factor and team-role changes — with the network part of the IP address (the last segment is dropped) and the browser or app used — is kept for 400 days and shown to your workspace's owners and admins, then deleted.
Deleting data without deleting your account
A workspace owner can export the workspace, or erase one customer's details, from Settings → Your data on the website. For anything else, write to us at the address above.
